Erma "Ernie" Marie Crocker Stephenson

Erma “Ernie” Marie Crocker Stephenson, 85, of Smithfield passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Peter Frank Crocker, Sr. and Lillian Marie Brock Crocker.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny S. Ellis (Ronnie) of Havelock, N.C; two grandchildren, Nina Godette (Kelvin) and Preston Ellis (Brittany); two great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kindyl Godette; four step grandchildren; and ten step great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Crocker Crance; two brothers, Peter Frank Crocker, Jr. and James E. Crocker (Doris); daughter- in- law, Patti Stephenson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Allen Stephenson and Timothy Rawls Stephenson; and a sister, Lucille Crocker Turner; and a twin brother, Herman Crocker.

Mrs. Stephenson worked for the Treasurer’s office in Isle of Wight County. She also worked at the former Bank of Isle of Wight and The Bank of Smithfield and owned and operated The Fabric Place in Smithfield. She was active in the Eastern Star, an avid gardener and loved to travel.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Eastern Stars, with checks payable to VESPA, and Service Dog Project written in the memo line.
