Eric Thomas Kitchen, 50, of Carrsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday August 6, 2026, after a long, courageous battle fighting cancer.
Eric was born on September 20, 1975, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Eric is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dawna Makela Kitchen, two sons, Evan Thomas Kitchen and Aiden Joseph Kitchen, all of Carrsville, and his devoted parents Milan (Mike) and Jacqueline(Jackie) Hunnicutt Kitchen of Wakefield, Virginia.
Eric graduated from Windsor High School in 1992. He worked for VDOT before becoming an Electronics Technician. In 2025, he became a Deacon at Windsor Congregational Christian Church; a position of which he was deeply proud.
Eric was very passionate about music. He was an exceptional lyricist and bass player. He was a member of multiple heavy metal bands throughout his life, most notably the bands 454 and Saltine.
Eric was a loving and devoted husband and father, always putting his family first. He passed his love of music and his musical talent to both his sons, inspiring them to play guitar and drums.
Also mourning the passing of Eric are his loving aunts, uncles, in- laws, cousins, nieces, and the many loyal friends he made over the years. Especially those friends who, over his lifetime, became more like his brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, 2 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA with burial to follow in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, Va.
