Elizabeth "Bettie" Bullock Holleman

January 30, 1944 — November 18, 2023

Vinton, Virginia

Elizabeth, (Bettie) Bullock Holleman of Vinton, VA, formerly of Smithfield, VA passed away peacefully in her home on November 18, 2023 at 79 years of age.

Bettie was the daughter of the late James L. Bullock and Alice Moore Bullock of Smithfield. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kuder (Keith) of Vinton, VA and son, William J. Holleman, Jr. (Nila) of Ivor, Va, five grandchildren, Jacob (Jen), Daniel, and Hannah Kuder, Spencer (Frankie) and Corey (Madeline) Holleman and five great-grandchildren, Ava and Zoe Kuder, Finch, Rooney Bear, and Elle Holleman as well as brother Dennis Bullock and sister Jamie Karabiac, nieces, nephews and many dear friends, especially her lifelong pal, Kaye Godwin. She was preceded in death by her brothers James and William Bullock, and sister, Mollie.

Bettie was a loving and caring person in all her endeavors throughout her life, from early on at Obici Hospital, cultivating her caregiving gift, Little’s Flower Shop, developing her creative side that passed on to her family, and then her final career for 25 years in the family business of Assisted Living, helping to pave the way for what the industry is today in Virginia. She wore many hats during her time at Americare Plus, being a taskmaster, mentor, trainer to the team while performing the duties of Floating Administrator, Corporate Support Specialist, and Agency Manager. She enjoyed helping to make situations better by engaging in activities to promote awareness of her current surroundings, Isle of Wight Rescue Squad Auxiliary and a FAR Resident Representative where she was residing at Friendship Independent Living in Roanoke.

She loved telling her childhood history of growing up in the family business and home of Bullock Funeral Home in Smithfield, always able to make folks gasp and laugh at the thought of playing around caskets! She enjoyed trying new recipes, watching re-runs of the westerns, helping with women’s ministries and crafts at church and at Friendship and always putting the needs of others first, a gracious giver of her time. Bettie will truly be missed by all.
