Debora Jean Cramer (née Boyle)

Apr 21, 1957 — Aug 13, 2026

Carrollton, VA

Debora Jean Cramer (née Boyle), age 69, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully at her home August 13th, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. Debora courageously lived with dementia for 11 years, maintaining her dignity throughout her struggle.

Born in Groton, Massachusetts, Debora traveled extensively with her family during her father’s U.S. Navy service. The family later settled in San Diego, California, upon his retirement.

A veteran of the Women’s Army Corps who completed her Advanced Individual Training in October 1976, she was one of a dwindling number of women who served under that historic Corps before training ended in January 1977. While serving in the Army at Fort Myer, Virginia, she married Charles C. Cramer Jr. in 1977. The couple shared 49 years of marriage. Debora went on to serve alongside him at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium, where they were blessed with a daughter, and later in Alaska, where they were blessed with a son.

Debora is survived by her loving husband of almost 49 years, Charles C. Cramer Jr.; her daughter, Jessica Sue Miller, and son-in-law Matthew Miller (OH); her son, Charles C. Cramer III, and daughter-in-law Kristen Nicolaisen; her grandchildren, Lorelei and Finnley Cramer (CO); her sister, Patricia Dickey; and her brother, Richard Boyle (CA). She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Sue Boyle (née Will), and her brother, David.
