Day Simpson Prevatte

Day Simpson Prevatte, 84, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Frank Brittlebank Simpson, Jr and Dorothy Blanche Seldon Simpson. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ronny Lee Prevatte; sons, Stephen Sweetman and Stuart Sweetman; a grandson, Sullivan Sweetman; and sister-in-law, Dr. Goldinar Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Frank Brittlebank Simpson, III.

Mrs. Prevatte was a member of the Smithfield Junior Woman’s Club, the Smithfield Woman’s Club, The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a dedicated member of her Smithfield Community and a supporter of the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery, Smithfield. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P O Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
