Christine Delbridge Chambliss

Christine Elizabeth Delbridge Chambliss, 89, of Smithfield passed away December 11, 2018.  She was the daughter of the late Macon Delbridge and Clyde Pearson Delbridge.  She grew up in Triplet, VA from age nine and was a 1946 graduate of Lawrenceville High School. She married her husband of 64 years, Marion Chambliss, and they relocated to Smithfield, VA where together they owned and operated Geo W. Delk Department Store on Main Street.  She is survived by her husband, Marion Dodd Chambliss; daughter, Joan Chambliss Mann; son, Steven Dodd Chambliss (Becky); grandchildren, Allison Heath (John), Kelsey Chambliss and Jeffrey Chambliss; sisters, Mary Clyde Wright and Janice Settle; brother C. P. Delbridge.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 17 at noon at Trinity United Methodist Church, Smithfield with a reception to follow.  A service will also be held on Tuesday, December 18 at noon, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 6072 Triplet Rd, Lawrenceville, VA with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following both services.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc www.alz.org  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
