Smithfield, VA – Cheryl L. Tatarka, 73, formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Cheryl was born on February 27, 1945. She was a 1963 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She married James A. Tatarka on August 28, 1965. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her loved ones more than anything. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, and was an avid reader. Those who knew her will always remember her patience, kindness, and gentle smile. She will be remembered for her generous nature and desire to extend a helping hand to anyone in need of one. Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years; a daughter, Lori (Frank) Powers of Oregon, a son, James A. Tatarka II of Virginia, a daughter, Dana (Jim) Patton of Texas; two grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary Powers of Oregon; a brother, William J. Watson, a sister, Karen L. Kemble, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; Mildred Yeckel Kemble and Samuel James Watson. At James’ and Cheryl’s request, no services will be held.
