Chekita Palmer Young

Chekita Palmer Young, 65, of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.  Born and raised on Catawba Mountain, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late, Glovern Hayden Palmer and Elsie Louise Francisco Palmer.  She is survived by her daughters, Crystal Gravel (Patrick) and Robin Wickline (Donnie); grandchildren, Konnor, Kyndel, Tabitha and Erin; sisters, Jeanette Niday and Jeanine Horn; brothers, Rellis, Shannon and Wyatt Palmer; sister-in-law, Sarah Palmer; niece, Asiak Young; and longtime friend Dwight Ullery.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Palmer and Woodrow Palmer. Mrs. Young loved spending time with her grandchildren, Konnor and Kyndel.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, cooking, good-willing, and watching her daytime soaps.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
