Charles William Read

Charles “Chuck” William Read, 76, of Smithfield, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Laura Dee Read; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Cobb (Vaden); son, Adam John Read (Amanda); grandchildren, Lauren Read and Baylee Read; and sisters, Dale Oddo (David) and Virginia Murphy (Chris).

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and shooting at their home in Lynchburg, VA. He was a member of the Art Center at 319 Main St, Smithfield, VA, where he enjoyed spending time and sharing his talent of art.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 2 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Pam Jordan, 18214 Farmview Lane, Windsor, VA 23487.
