Cecile Owens

Cecile Owens, 82, of Smithfield, VA, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Douglas Ray Owens. She is survived by her daughter, Tonya Cecile Lynch (Keith); son, Lee Owens; grandchildren, Riley Owens, Skyler Lynch, McKayla Russell and Lily Owens; a sister, Sandie McPherson; brother-in-law, Laris Owens; and sister-in-law, Brenda Owens. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Owens.

Mrs. Owens was a classy Southern Bell, a strong Christian woman, who deeply loved her faith, family and friends, she filled every room with Love. Known for her wisdom and wit, she often shared and inspired others with her advice. She enjoyed spending time shopping with her daughter and grandchildren. She loved riding her John Deere lawn mower and taking care of her yard. She was also a great cook, especially her fried chicken.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, 2 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield with burial to follow in St. Lukes Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
