Bruce Wayne Spady

May 8, 1951 — January 14, 2026

Carrollton

Bruce Wayne Spady, 74, passed away peacefully at home January 14th 2026 where he had lived for 49 years. He is the son of the late Bruce R and Eleanor Spady.

Bruce Wayne loved his family. He is survived by his wife Darlene Spady (54 years); sons Bruce Wayne Spady Jr. (Jennifer) and Brandon Lee Spady (Seylark); sister Teresa Beale (Rick); sister-in-law Linda Spady; grandchildren Addison, Kana, Bennett and Gray; and 4 Nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Spady and niece Adrienne Beale.

Bruce Wayne had one job in life, Farmer. He loved to farm; it was in his blood. He started farming as a teenager and took great pride in his work. Working long hours during the busiest time of year, good or bad, he never gave up until the crop was planted or harvested. Even though health issues limited his ability to work, he was always there giving advice to his son (Bruce W Jr.) He did that up till the day before he passed.

Bruce Wayne also loved to hunt and fish. Running deer dogs in the fall chasing deer or throwing a line in the James River or Brewers Creek searching for that big fish was a special part of his life. Bruce Wayne loved fast cars, always buying and selling a boat or outrunning his friends on the jet ski in Brewers Creek. He loved the outdoors. He loved watching the turkeys in the spring and rutting bucks in the fall. Riding in his Polaris the last couple of years was his last enjoyment. It allowed him to see what he always enjoyed, the outdoors.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank Riverside Hospice for all their compassionate care.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 6-7pm at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. The graveside service will be on Monday, January 19, 2026, 2pm at St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery.
