Betty Seward Holdsworth

November 1, 1931 — April 13, 2022

Betty Ann Seward Holdsworth, 90, of Carrollton, VA passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.  She was born in Hampton, VA the daughter of the late Elmer Garland Seward and Alice Gwaltney Seward.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Royce Holdsworth.  She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl G. Johnson (Mike); son, Edward “Ted” Royce Holdsworth (Julie); grandchildren, Erin (Brett), Thomas (Cozette); great grandchildren, Reed and Claire; sister, Ruby Faison; special friend, Blanche Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by a brother Gene Seward and a niece Cindy Faison.  Mrs. Holdsworth grew up in Surry County, VA.  She worked for Lt. Governor A. E. Stephens and then worked at the Carrollton Post Office from 1984 -2004.  She was a member of Benn’s United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an avid beach goer who loved fishing in the river. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery, Smithfield.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Benn’s UMC, 14571 Benns Church Blvd, Smithfield, VA 23430 or the SPCA, www.peninsulaspca.org.
