Bernard Sheckle Griffin

Bernard Sheckle “Chuck” Griffin, III, of Smithfield passed away at home on July 14, 2018. Chuck was born on December 30, 1953 to the late Bernard and Elsie Scott Griffin.  Born and raised in Smithfield, he spent his life in agriculture, whether a farmer himself or working with many local farmers.  “Griz” as he was known to many, enjoyed hunting. He was member of Isle of Wight Hunt Club and the Smithfield Ducks Unlimited.  He is survived by his wife of 38 years Linda Gwaltney Griffin; son Kevin Griffin; daughter Courtney Dortch (Travis); and granddaughter Emersyn; brother Clay Griffin (Nancy), and extended family.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Isle of Wight Academy, c/o Sandra Crocker Memorial Scholarship Fund, P O Box 105, Isle of Wight, VA 23397.
