Barbara Waller-Fouse, 72, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020. She was born in North Carolina and her early life was spent in Newport News, VA. As a young woman, she lived in New York City and eventually to Santa Cruz California. In the early 90’s after being hired as the cook for a religious retreat of the Baha’is, The Bosch Baha’i Center of Learning - a retreat/conference center in the Santa Cruz mountains, she decided being a Baha’i was the next natural step in her life. After a few years of being a Baha’i decided her own “act of service” would be to move to Africa, The Gambia, where she was asked to be of service by teaching “computer skills” to the local community. It was in Africa where she was “introduced” to a little baby girl who had been named “Little B” Jobe, after her! Barbara took seriously the job of bringing up "Little B", trying several businesses - cooking delicious desserts, buying land with help from friends in the US to start a farm, and also making sure "Lil B" went to a “private school”. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Barbara Jobe (Little B) of The Gambia, Her Mother, Joyce Waller of Newport News. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
