Barbara Ellen Hargrave

Barbara Ellen Hargrave, 77, passed away September 28, 2020 in the care of Obici Hospital. She was a life long resident of Smithfield, Va. She is proceeded in death by her son, Ricky Hargrave, brother David Miller, and father Ray Miller. Barbara was the daughter of Mattie Roach and Ray Miller. She is survived by her her husband, Clarence Hargrave of 61 years, as well as four children. Raymond (Shelia), Bobbie Sue (George), Dennis (Sue), and John. She is also survived by her mother Mattie Roach, and brother Glenn Miller (Kitsy). Barbara was called nanny by most, she was a mother to everyone and always had a smile on her face. She couldn’t hear that well but she would always nod and smile. She loved the Black water regional library in Smithfield. She went there almost every week. She would check out two mystery books, most likely by James Patterson. She also enjoyed gardening, even though she never really had time to do it. She had a total of 29 grandchildren and great grandchildren; not including her great great granddaughter, Ava Lane Widener, daughter of Morgan and Tyler. Ava was the apple of her eye.
