It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and devout boyfriend to the love of his life. A true momma’s boy at heart, he was known for his kindness, humor, and the genuine love he gave so freely to those around him.
Ashton Dean Jones, 21, of Portsmouth, VA passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He is survived by his parents, Dana Laurie Beck Atchley and Stephen Atchley; his best friend and spouse, Abby Elise O’Brien; brother, Alec Ryan Jones (Gabbi Vivirito), grandparents, Don and Linda Atchley; his uncles, Mason Dreyer and Charles Beck; and special friends, Ryan Nocon and Anna Raiford.
From an early age, he was driven, self-motivated, and responsible. A natural talker with a big heart, he was deeply family-oriented and cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He had an unmistakable passion for gaming, a deep appreciation for fine cars, and a lifelong love of cooking.
His culinary journey began during high school at Sal’s Pizza in Smithfield, VA, where, under the guidance of his mentor Willie, he discovered both his passion for cooking and the love of his life. Inspired to grow as a chef and serve a greater purpose, he joined the United States Coast Guard, where he continued to refine his culinary skills while proudly serving his country.
He was funny, full of life, and unwaveringly sincere. Above all, he loved with his whole heart.
He found peace and strength in his faith, accepting God as his Lord and Savior.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light he brought into so many lives.
A funeral service will full military honors will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, 11 a.m. at Little’s Funeral Homes, Smithfield, VA with a private burial to follow at St Luke’s Memorial Park.
