Ashanti Nicole Herbert

With heartfelt reverence, we celebrate Ashanti Nicole Herbert (Smithfield, Virginia), whom the Lord God called home on December 26, 2025 at the age of 43, leaving behind cherished family memories. Ashanti truly enjoyed life as she grew up in a close-knit family of 3 siblings around whom she was always happy. She was known for her warm spirit, her happiness, and her ability to bring brightness into every space she entered.

Ashanti loved music and especially enjoyed dancing while using her unique ability to recall every word of her favorite songs. She graduated from Smithfield High School, Smithfield Virginia before moving on to becoming a full-time resident of The Neighbors Place. Ashanti’s legacy is one of happiness, and pure love. She will be forever missed for her innocent heart and the joy she brought into our lives and into the lives of many others.

In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent tribute, we reflect on the legacy of joy that Ashanti leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Ashanti may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates our paths in times of darkness.

She is survived by her parents James and Valerie Herbert, her siblings Sherrell, Mounia and Mariah, grandparents Vernon and Patricia Kendall, uncles David Raine, Santee Ruffin and Butch Mitchell, aunts Dybenda and Rosina, cousins Mary and Terry Tillman, nephews Marcus and Aaron, brother’s in-law Aaron Brown Sr. and Anthony Meno, and many other cousins and loving family members.

Ashanti is preceded in life by her loving grandfather Vincent Ruffin, grandmother Ramona Herbert, great grandparents Thelma and Santee Ruffin, Charles and Doris Mason and Aunts Helen Jay and Verna Herbert and her great uncles Charles, Bruce and James Mason, cousin Sophia Tillman and many other cousins and loving family members all of whom loved her dearly.
