Alice LaRue Hayes

Alice LaRue Hayes, 76, of Smithfield passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Warren Hays and Hazel Keener Hays. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Hayes and her brother John Hays. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her son, Aaron Thomas Hayes and her brother, David Hays.

Graduating from Hampton High School in 1967, she enjoyed a long career in the banking industry. She was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed trips to Nags Head and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed thrift shopping and collecting vintage decor.

Mrs. Hayes’ faith was important to her. She attended Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church. She always spoke of how God was so good and how blessed her family was. She kept her Bible next to her and read it daily. She would want everyone to read Revelation 21:3-6 and know that she is now with her savior, Jesus.

A graveside service will be held at St. Lukes Memorial Park, Smithfield at a later date.
