"Sonny" Albert L. Turner

Albert L. (Sonny) Turner, age 85, died March 18, 2021 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Letcher R. and Lizzie Crocker Turner. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Turner Downey, his brothers Thurman R. Turner, Willie James Turner, Robert L. Turner, Cleveland Leon Turner, Raymond L. Turner and nephew, Martin L. Downey. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, Judy Sheets Turner. He is also survived by his nephews Allen R. Turner (Judy) and Charles W. Turner (Debbie). Also left to cherish his memory are nieces Ashley N. Turner (Ryan West), Tonia Downey Rhodes, and Vicki Mottley as well as his sister-in-law, JoAnn Finderson (Tommy) plus great nieces, nephews and cousins. He worked 19 years at Smithfield Packing Company in the truck shop; however, he retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 38. There will be a graveside service 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Luke’s Cemetery. Pastor Roderick Clayton will be officiating.
